Wrapping up at Ann Arbor SPARK

As my summer internship at SPARK draws to a close, I find it hard to believe how quickly the weeks have flown by. After the 4th of July, the weeks went by so quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at SPARK. From actively participating in our weekly status meetings to attentively listening to the marketing team's discussions, each experience has been incredibly rewarding. Throughout these nine weeks, I had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, making my resume extremely colorful. From learning about Google Analytics to dabbling in graphic design, my skillset has expanded tremendously. Being an intern can be a bit daunting at times. I often found myself wondering, "Where do I start?" or questioning if I was doing things correctly. I had limited experience compared to full-time employees (which is to be expected), but I know that internships are all about learning and gaining experience. The importance of networking!

Business is all about networking. Effective networking is a tool that allows individuals to connect with clients, mentors, colleagues, and more. Expanding your network gives you access to various resources and a multitude of opportunities. In my opinion, the most important aspect of networking is the relationships that you build. By investing time in nurturing connections, you are fostering loyalty and really getting to know the other person. You never know who knows who and maybe that can be your next opportunity. Networking has also increased my confidence and communication skills. During my first year of college, I was hesitant to go up and talk to other, even my own peers. However, as I kept attending career fairs and workshops, I have seen that I take the initiative to talk to other people. I don't wait for them to come to me.
